Oxford House is truly one of the best ways to get and stay clean! It has many various potentials yet to be fully researched as the current recovery model tends to strongly lean towards residential care, but why is that? If you think about it...after residential care it is strongly suggested you attend a sober environment to sustain all of the newfound skillsets acquired.
Most likely become while in residential care, you actually were forced to remain clean and sober and although extremely beneficial, it really is not that practical because you will eventually have to pop that bubble and join the rest of us in the real world. And when you do, how prepared were you really if your entire time was sheltered while at inpatient (residential) drug rehab?
Oxford House living is a great form of accountability and camaraderie on a healthy level. Do you really think you would be able to pull the wool over the eyes of your fellow addicts in recovery that are now living with you? NOT A CHANCE! How many times did you get away with it while living at home with your parents or with your partner or spouse?
The problem is that many sober living facilities have received a bad reputation as many are extremely money hungry. They end up packing you in like sardines in a can and do not offer true value as far as access to resources, therapy etc. They only want your monthly income. We can assure you that Oxford House living go way above and beyond the normal standard.
First of all, the Oxford House homes are democratically ran. What this means is residents, by their majority vote, establish, implement, and enforce policies governing the living environment, included in the manner of applications for residents are approved and in the manner in which residents are expelled. Furthermore, this means that we conduct random and multiple UA analysis tests to ensure safety and program compliance. lastly, we provide fun and entertaining activities that have nothing to do with drugs or alcohol. We truly care about our clientele and want you to succeed!
